For the past 25 years Toronto has been blessed with one of the finest ceili bands anywhere. Since their beginnings at Comhaltas sessions in the mid-seventies, the band has gone on to grace the stage at various folk festivals such as Mariposa, Home Counties and Owen Sound and have opened for such luminaries as Christy Moore, Andy Irvine and Paul Brady. Dancers from Dublin to Memphis to Boston and New York have enjoyed their playing. The line-up consists of founder members Kevin Finnegan (accordian), Denis Lyons (banjo) and is rounded out by Jim McGee and Steve Jeffrey on fiddles.
The Cabbagetown Ceilidh Band has been performing regularly around Southern Ontario for the last year at weddings and parties. Recreating the classic sound of the ceilidh bands of the fifties and sixties the line up includes piano, button accordion, fiddle, pipes and flute.
The Celtic Ceili Crew
Celtic music is the driving force behind this culturally diverse group of musicians. The band is based in Toronto and plays regularly for set dancing workshops and ceilis.
